What we do

Nine practices. One standard: does anything actually change?

We provide leadership, design, facilitation and consulting services to organizations that have decided their culture is a real priority — and we build the intellectual property that carries the same ideas beyond the workplace.

Leadership Development

Programs that build presence, judgement and range in the people your organization depends on most.

Leadership is not a content problem. Most senior people already know what good looks like; what they lack is the capacity to access it when the pressure is on, the information is incomplete and somebody in the room is unhappy.

Our programs develop that capacity directly — through practice, facilitation, live coaching and honest feedback. We work with intact executive teams, emerging leader cohorts and functional leadership groups, in person and virtually.

Coach Training & Internal Cadres

We train cadres of internal coaches so a coach-approach to leadership becomes native to your organization.

The fastest way to make a coaching culture real is to stop outsourcing it. We train internal coaches — people already in your business who know your context — to a professional standard, and we build the supervision and community structures that keep them sharp.

This is the work our principal has done as faculty and associate partner with the Co-Active Training Institute, and it is the core of the UpLevel practice.

Organizational Transformation

Culture and change work grounded in what people actually do differently on Monday morning.

We start with diagnosis, not prescription: what is genuinely happening, what is being avoided, and what the current system is quietly rewarding.

From there we design the intervention with you — structures, rituals, decision norms, leadership behaviours — and we hold the work to a behavioural standard rather than a sentiment one.

Executive & Team Coaching

One-to-one and team coaching for senior leaders carrying complexity they cannot set down.

Senior roles are structurally lonely. The higher you go, the fewer people can hear the whole picture without it costing you something.

Coaching gives a leader one relationship with no agenda other than their effectiveness and their integrity. We work with individuals and with whole leadership teams on the relational quality that determines how fast anything actually moves.

Emotional Leadership & Resiliency

Developing emotional range as a leadership capacity — not a soft skill, a performance one.

Cognitive and emotional load accumulates in ways that degrade exactly the capacities leaders rely on most: empathy narrows, decision quality decreases, relational attunement fades — and the leader is usually the last to notice.

This practice builds the self-awareness and regulation that interrupt that pattern, and the team-level norms that make it safe to name what is true.

End-of-Life & Grief at Work

Specialist practice for navigating loss and grief in workplace, family and community ecosystems.

Loss arrives in every organization, and most have no competence for it beyond a bereavement policy. The cost shows up later as disengagement, attrition and leaders who quietly stop bringing their whole attention.

We equip leaders and teams to navigate death, dying, grief and major loss with skill and humanity — a specialist capability we have built deliberately.

Education & Schools

Coaching skills for teachers, students and school leaders — educational change from the inside.

We support educational change by training teachers, students and school leaders to use coaching skills in the classroom and the staff room.

Our emotional wellness intellectual property is also available for classroom and institutional licensing, with discussion guides built for educators.

Creative Direction & Design

Brand, narrative and product design for organizations building something that has to mean something.

We design the things we make: characters, books, brand systems, digital products and the experiences around them. That same capability is available to clients whose work needs a narrative and a form, not just a strategy.

Design here means the whole arc — what it says, who it is for, how it feels to encounter, and whether it holds up over years.

IP Development & Stewardship

We create, publish and license original books, platforms and educational products.

Dunbar Group develops and stewards original intellectual property in service of human growth and emotional wellness. We handle the full arc: concept, writing, illustration, publishing, digital product and licensing.

Books, platforms and educational products are available for institutional and organizational licensing — schools, healthcare settings and employee wellbeing programs among them.

How engagements run

Discovery, design, embed.

The same three movements whether the engagement lasts six weeks or three years.

01

Discovery

Interviews, observation and honest diagnosis. We find out what is really happening — including what has not been said out loud — before we propose anything.

02

Design

We design the work with you: programs, facilitation, coaching structures, and the measures that will tell you honestly whether it is landing.

03

Embed

Trained internal coaches, equipped leaders, shared language. We hand over deliberately so the change belongs to you.

FAQ

Practical questions about working together

Still unsure whether this is the right fit? Tell us what you are facing and we will tell you honestly whether we are the right people for it.

Both. Our leadership practice has delivered in 100 countries, in person and through virtual programs including the School of UpLevel, our on-demand training platform.

It depends entirely on what you are trying to change. A focused facilitation may be a single intensive; building an internal coaching cadre and the culture around it is usually a multi-quarter commitment. We scope it honestly in discovery rather than selling a fixed shape.

That is usually the best version of this. Our aim is to leave capability behind, which means working with your internal team rather than around them, and handing over deliberately.

Yes. We train teachers, students and school leaders in coaching skills, and we license our emotional wellness intellectual property for classroom and institutional use.

Thirty minutes, no deck. You describe what is happening; we ask the questions that get under it. At the end we tell you what we think, including whether somebody else would serve you better.
